NOSS ADVANCED MECHANICAL PULPING PROCESS
CRUCIAL PULP QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

Pilot plant trials have shown that this advanced process is capable of increasing the pulp strength properties due to improved fiber bonding ability. This was achieved at lower specific refining energy compared to that used in conventional TMP processes. The paper surface smoothness was improved and moisture-induced roughening of the sheet was reduced significantly with low-consistency (LC) refining of the transition wood fiber fraction.

ADVANTAGES
The Noss Advanced Mechanical Pulping Process has the following advantages compared to conventional systems:
- High degree of process flexibility to reach the target pulp properties
- Smoother consolidated sheet with high surface stability
- Lower specific refining energy to reach target pulp properties

ADVANCED PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF HIGH QUALITY MECHANICAL PULPS FOR VALUE-ADDED PAPER GRADES

The patented Advanced Process developed by NOSS AB uses hydrocyclone fractionation technique to separate mechanical pulp into fiber fractions having distinct different morphology: early-wood, transition-wood and late-wood fibers. These fiber fractions are developed differently further in the process.
