COMPANY HISTORY

FROM AN INVENTION TO A COMPLETE PROCESS SUPPLIER

Manufacturing in Norrköping, Sweden, started in 1959. A new full-scale pilot plant was built, which enabled new inventions such as pressure screens and deaerators to be launched. Complete compact and efficient approach systems could now be supplied.

With the business growing, Noss needed larger facilities and in 1967 acquired a complete manufacturing plant including machinery and staff in Norrköping. The new facilities allowed for an even larger pilot plant, advanced research and a sophisticated laboratory that still constitutes the basis for the development of new machinery and systems.

During the 70:s and 80:s a number of improved, innovative applications within brown stock screening, bleached screening and hydrocycloning as well as paper machine approach systems were introduced on the market.

DEVELOPMENT, MACHINERY AND SYSTEMS
Specializing in hydrocyclone technology and systems, the company started its activity in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1952.  Research and development formed a solid base for the company and lead already in the late 50:s to the first and original invention of the pressurized hydrocyclone system.
VISION
Noss was founded by Lennart Wikdahl, who graduated with a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in 1940. With his background from the chemical industry, he visualized the opportunities in the pulp and paper industry and its modernizing potential. In consideration of the miserable working environment, high energy consumption, deficient process controls and cumbersome maintenance he realized the need for substantial improvements in the fiber line.
GLOBAL PRESENCE
Today, over 1000 Noss installations are operating in various applications in more than 500 mills around the world. Through strategically located branch offices, Noss provides know-how and after-sales service that is adapted to different local requirements. Warehouses in Europe, Asia and North America ensure fast availability of spare parts.
ADVANCED FIBER DEVELOPMENT
Noss continues playing a leading role in Fiber Fractionation Technology and has put particular emphasize on advanced Fiber Development Technologies for the last 15 years. Modern systems containing fractionation ensure higher and uniform product quality as well as cost-effective production.
COMPLETE PROCESS SYSTEMS
The industry’s ever-growing demand for suppliers in regard to responsibilities and functional guarantees was early recognized by Noss, which during the 80:s lead to an expansion of the Service and Engineering Departments. As a result, complete process deliveries including detailed engineering, erection work, start-ups, operator-training etc. could soon be executed.
